AAP protests against delay in holding J&K Assembly polls

JAMMU, May 29: Up in arms against unprecedented delay in holding Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Jammu unit, held a strong protest demonstration outside the office of Election Commission, here today.
Carrying banners and placards, the protesting AAP leaders and activists raised slogans against the Government as well as the Election Commission for delaying the Assembly elections in J&K for no reasons.
The protest demonstration was addressed by AAP senior leaders, including former Minister Yash Pal Kundal, DDC Member Taranjit Singh Tony, Partap Singh Jamwal and others, who accused the BJP-led Central Government of dictating terms to the Election Commission and un-necessarily delaying Assembly elections in J&K. “The Central Government and LG administration are repeatedly maintaining that security situation in Jammu Kashmir has improved a lot, then what is the reason of not holding Assembly elections here?” he asked and also questioned the silence of Election Commission over no reason for delaying Assembly polls.
Taranjit Singh Tony alleged that the BJP wanted to remain in power through Central rule in J&K and thus not holding elections here. “Election Commission is hand in globe with the ruling BJP to delay the Assembly polls,” he added and announced to continue protests for the polls.
Pratap Singh Jamwal and others also addressed the protest demonstration and vowed to further intensify the protests till Assembly polls are announced for J&K.
Prominent among those who joined the protest include Namrta Sharma, President Women Wing AAP J&K, Sr Spokesperosn Jagdeep Singh, Dr Rajinder Thappa, Shanker Singh Chib, President Kissan Wing, Mahesh Bakshi, Sham Lal Bhagat, District President, Ashok Kumar District President; Sarpanch Rajinder Singh, Yasin Mattoo, Raj Mohammad Salaria, Mandeep Choudhary, S Mohinder Pal Singh, S Parvinder Singh, Bodhraj Sharma, Kanav Khajuria, Vikrant Sharma, Owais Choudhary, Asif Gill, Prem Lal Bhagat, NIsha Bhagat, Buti Ram and others.
Meanwhile, AAP organized a separate protest demonstration against the Central Government for bringing ordinance to nullify the Supreme Court order that had given Delhi’s AAP Government control over officers dealing with subjects other than public order, Police and land. The AAP leaders, including female faces & activists stood in a long queue at Main Road Gandhi Nagar, adjoining Hotel Asia, with black ribbons on their shoulders & play cards and banners in their hands having slogans against Modi Government.
The protest demonstration was addressed by AAP leaders, including S Deep Singh, founder & National Council Member AAP-J&K; Maj Gen (Retd) Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Nirmal Mahna, Agya Kour & S Ravinder Singh Sarpanch.
