AAP threatens stir over smart meters, asks opposition parties to join hands

JAMMU, Aug 12: Threatening a stir against alleged harassment of electricity consumers in Jammu and Kashmir in guise of smart meters, Aam Aadmi Party has appealed all the opposition parties to join hands against anti-people policies of the Government.
“In the name of Smart City, this Government is installing smart meters to further fleece the consumers, who are being issued inflated electricity bills,” said Jagdeep Kumar, Spokesperson of AAP in Jammu and Kashmir, while addressing a press conference, here today.
He said that despite opposition and complaints of the people against faulty reading being shown by the smart meters, the Power Development Department was hell bent to install these meters thus triggering strong resentment among public against insensitive attitude of the Government.
The AAP leader also alleged that the PDD recently hike 15 percent power tariff in a clandestine manner while inflated bill were being raised in the name of dead persons.
He also criticized the LG administration for recent death of PDD Linemen because of electrocution and demanded adequate compensation to the family of next of the kin of the deceased.
Threatening a stir over the issue of smart meters, Jagdeep Kumar appealed all the opposition parties in Jammu and Kashmir to join hands for a joint struggle against anti-people policies of the LG administration.
