SRINAGAR, Oct 6: A shopkeeper who was abducted by militants three days back was found dead in an orchard in North Kashmir’s Sopore area this morning.
Tawseef Ahmad Ganie, 30, son of Mohammad Afzal Ganai, resident of Tujjer Sopore, was abducted by militants from his shop at Unisoo village of Handwara on Wednesday afternoon.
The body of the abducted shopkeeper was recovered from orchards at Harwan village this morning.
Ganai was a butcher and had recently uploaded a video on social media sites in which he had criticized the Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Reyaz Naikoo, for threatening the SPOs.
In the video, Ganie spoke about the threatening of SPOs by Naikoo. He had said in the video that threatening and killing of SPOs is unjustified and blamed Naikoo of killing Kashmiri youth in the past. “Allah will not forgive you (Naikoo)”, he had said in the video.
This is the second such case in the area. Earlier, a labour was abducted by militants from his home and later his body was recovered in an orchard.
