JAMMU, Dec 29: After his expulsion from the State presidentship of the organisation by Central leaders, Akhil Bharatiya Gujjar Mahasabha (ABGM) J&K , president Ishfaq-ul-Rehman re-christened the name of the organisation as Bharatiya Gujjar Mahasaba (BGM) J&K.
While taking to reporters here today, Poswal said that the main objective of creating this non -political organization is to highlight the basic issue related to Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar community as they differ from Gujjar community of other States in various aspects.
He said the major issue, which his organization will highlight is the upliftment of tribal Gujjars in the State as they face more problems than the Gujjars and Bakerwals of other States.
He said that district and block level members of ABGM are with BGM now. The organization will affiliate to all the national and State level organizations working for betterment of Gujjar community throughout the country. These include Gujjar Vikas Sangthan, Gujjar Vikas Parisahd, Gujjar Chetna Manch, Akhil Bharatiya Gujjar Mahasabha, All India Gujjar Mahasabha, Rajasthan Arakshan Samiti, and Gujjar Welfare Board besides various other non political organizations.
Poswal said ABGM launched in J&K in 2007 has struggled for the betterment of the community since then. The State unit of ABGM since then met various Central Government leaders including President of India and Prime Minister and projected their problems before them.
He reiterated his demand including implementation of tribal sub plan in J&K, political reservation in Block Development Councils, Legislative Council, Assembly, rehabilitation of nomads and recruitment of tribal youth in belt forces.
He also demanded CBI/ CAG probe on the various schemes and packages sanctioned for downtrodden section of society by Centre since 1991 as not a single person in the State was benefited.
