Abhinav Sharma is new Bar president

JAMMU, Mar 8: Advocate Abhinav Sharma has been elected as new president of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu.
The election for the posts of office bearers of the Bar Association was held yesterday and the results were declared late in the night due to time consumed in counting of votes.
According to M K Bhardwah, former President of the Bar Association, who acted as Returning Officer, Advocate Abhinav Sharma secured 680 votes to win the presidential chair. The other contenders for the post namely D K Khajuria, B S Manhas and Ram Mohammad secured 414, 380 and 24 votes respectively.
Advocate Pranav Kohli has been elected as vice-president of the Bar Association. He secured 704 votes while as other candidates for this post namely Pawan Kumar Manni, Radha Sharma and Vishal Abrol bagged 471, 270 and 53 votes respectively.
Advocate A P Singh was elected as general secretary by securing 825 votes. His rivals—Sachin Gupta, Manohar Lal and Umesh Sharma secured 540, 71 and 53 votes respectively. Advocate Dupesh Singh Pawar emerged as winner for the post of joint secretary. He bagged 476 votes against his rivals Gurpreet Kour (438), Amit Chadha (269), Atul Raina (189) and Narinder Sharma (73).
Advocate Rahul Sharma has been elected as cashier of the Bar Association. He secured 896 votes against his rivals Rakesh Sharma (399) and Surinder Gupta 169.
Advocate Chander Shekhar Gupta acted as convener of the Election Committee.
