ABKM demands 27% quota for OBCs in J&K

JAMMU, Mar 15: Akhil Bhartiya Kashyap Mahasangh (ABKM) has urged upon the J&K Union Territory Administration to implement Mandal Commission Report with provision to provide 27 % reservation to the OBC category people in Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to media-persons here today, Brij Mehra, president of the Mahasangh said that after the creation of Union Territory many Central rules have been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. But the Mandal Commission Report was not implemented here till date.
Mehra demanded that Lt Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu should implement Mandal Commission Report and provide 27 % quota to the people from OBC category.
He further claimed that in view of the rapid spread of Coronavirus in the country and specially positive reported cases in J&K, the promised OBC rally/ protest programme for 27 % Reservation, during last week of March has been postponed. Moreover, another religious programme being held on April 5, in connection with the Parkash Utsav of Maharishi Kashyap Ji and Shobha Yatra is being postponed.
Senior members of the Mahasabha including Darshan Mehra, Som Nath, Sameer Dogra, Ramesh Kumar, Asha Mehra and Priyanka Dogra were also present in the conference.
