JAMMU, July 10: The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) and various trade organizations of Jammu province have strongly demanded that Toll Tax at Lakhanpur be abolished without any more delay.
An emergency meeting was convened at Chamber House on the request of president Chamber of Commerce & Industries Rakesh Gupta, wherein presidents/ secretaries of more than hundred major organisation under the umbrella of Chamber were invited keeping in view the continuation of Toll Tax at Lakhanpur even after the implementation of GST which has become a major source of resentment among the traders.
All the heads of these associations spoke on the occasion and the House was of unanimous view that Toll Tax at Lakhanpur should be abolished and as far as the safeguarding of few products being manufactured by the industries in the State. The House suggested that Government should find some other alternative to offer incentives to the industries in lieu of charging Toll on goods to the traders.
Later, Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta also visited the Chamber House. On this occasion he also announced more funds out of his CDF for the ongoing development works at Chamber House. The Chamber president assured the House that the matter of the Toll Tax at Lakhanpur should be taken up with the State Government forcefully and soon the Government shall arrive upon a reasonable decision.
Prominent among others present in the meeting included Rajesh Gupta, Rajeev Gupta, Gaurav and Ashu Gupta.
