Jammu gears up for Film Festival

JAMMU, Sept 22: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State executive member Raman Suri today said that freshly carved out Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir is going to witness massive development and participation of various institutions here in a big way in days to come.
The first ever Jammu Film Festival scheduled for September 26 and 27 in City of Temples is an indication that post abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A, film industry is going to make its presence felt quite impressively.
Raman Suri was speaking in a meeting organized by NGO Vomedh to finalize modalities of Jammu Film Festival. He said that Jammu is going to create as well as witness history when this festival wherein 47 shortlisted films from around the globe will be screened and red carpets will be rolled out for artists and awards will be conferred upon them during the Jammu Film Festival. He hoped that this Jammu Film Festival (JFF) will open new vistas for industry to shoot their films in most serene location in the UT.
Extending his full support to the NGO Vomedh, Raman Suri added that Jammu will put its best foot forward in making this first ever film festival a grand success. Speaking on the occasion, the organizers of the event informed that in all 150 short films were submitted by 16 countries out of which 47 stand shortlisted which will be screened here in Jammu for the audiences and art lovers.
Celebrities including actors Kashmira Shah, Ayub Khan, Ayaz Khan and Lalit Parimoo besides producer Kapil Mattoo will also be attending this film festival, being held in Jammu for the first time. They added that this is a beginning after which entire film industry will look towards Jammu and Kashmir, and like yesteryears make UT blink on international map of film and art world.
Festival Directors Rakesh Roshan Bhat and Rohit Bhat have also assured the team that this mega event will roll out red carpets for artists and award ceremony will be most glittering and informative wherein artists from all over the country besides UT of J&K will be honoured.
