JAMMU, Nov 19: Police in Jhajjar Kotli area claimed today they have arrested an absconder who was evading his arrest in a case of kidnapping and rape.
Uttam Kumar son of Kisho Ram of Sagalta, Kambal Danga, Udhampur was wanted in case FIR number 51/17 under sections 363 and 376 of the RPC registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli, a police official said.
According to him, a warrant under Section 512 of the CrPC had been issued against the accused by the court but in an attempt to avoid detection, the accused had changed his appearance and concealed his identity.
Despite his efforts, he said, the accused was successfully arrested by a team of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli led by SHO concerned.
He will be presented before the competent court to decide the future course of action, added the police official.
