DODA, Jan 7: Police here today arrested an absconder who was evading arrest for the last nine years.
Giving details in this regard, SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta informed that the absconder Bashir Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Sarwara Qazikund, Anantnag was wanted in a case of FIR number-161/2006 under Section 48 Excise Act which was registered against him at Police Station Doda.
After completion of investigation, Challan was produced in the Court and the accused was declared as absconder and warrant of arrest under Section 299 Cr. PC was issued against him by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Doda on October 13, 2015.
On directions of SSP Doda, a Police team was constituted with cops from Police Station Doda and it was led by Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, SHO Doda.
After hectic efforts the team arrested the absconder from Qazikund area of Anantnag and produced him before the Court of Law.
