JAMMU, Dec 5: Police in Satwari area here claimed today they have arrested an absconder who was evading his arrest for the past one year.
A police spokesperson said that on September 14, 2023, a case FIR number 166/2023 under sections 8/21/22/27(A)/29 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Satwari in which two persons-Jaffer Hussain of Tanda, Punjab and Mohammad Sharief of Gidder Gallian Jammu-were involved.
He said that one of the accused in the case, Jaffer Hussain was arrested but Mohammad Sharief was absconding since the commissioning of the crime.
After receiving information about the accused, a team of Police Station Satwari led by SDPO South Sachit Sharma, assisted by SHO Satwari, Inspector Sumit Sharma raided the suspected place and arrested the accused person, he said.
He will face further legal action as the investigation in the case is underway.
