SAMBA, Dec 23: Ramgarh police arrested an army jawan, who was wanted in a rape case.
As per police sources, army jawan identified as Shubham Sharma, son of Tarsem Lal, a resident of Badali called his neighbour girl to his house and later took her to fields, where he raped her.
The accused threatened the girl of dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.
However, the victim mustered courage and narrated the ordeal to her family, who reported the matter to police station Ramgarh.
A case under Section 376 RPC was registered and hunt was launched to nab the accused.
Feeling social stigma, the girl later committed suicide.
Based on reliable information, a team from Ramgarh police station led by SHO Bansi Lal conducted raid today and arrested the accused Army jawan.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
