Absconding driver arrested, bus seized

JAMMU, Dec 15: Arnia police arrested a bus driver involved in the death during accident and seized the bus also.
As per police sources, a first year college student identified as Rajat, son of Girdhari Lal, a resident of Arnia, received serious injuries when the bike bearing registration number JK02AS-2159 on which he was travelling, was hit by a bus bearing registration number JK02B-7821 coming from opposite side at near Army camp at Arnia yesterday.
The profusely bleeding victim was immediately rushed to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Arnia, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
After completing legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to family members for last rites.
A case under relevant Sections was registered at Arnia police station and hunt was launched to nab the accused driver, who escaped from the spot along with the bus.
Based on some inputs, a team from Arnia police station conducted raids in different areas and finally nabbed the accused driver, who has been identified as Janak Raj, son of Om Parkash, a resident of Treva.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Arnia Inspector Satish Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
