Absconding narcotics smuggler arrested from Gujarat

UDHAMPUR, Dec 17: Udhampur Police apprehended an alleged narcotics smuggler, who was evading arrest for the last 14 months and had fled to Gujarat while another drug peddler was arrested with poppy straw at Darsoo in Udhampur.
According to the report, a Police party from Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Raghuvir Singh, apprehended an absconder who had been evading arrest since February 2023. The arrested individual, namely Sheikh Abdul Latief, son of Abdul Star of H.No. 3150, Chand Bai Ki Chali, Mohalla Mastan, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, had been absconding in connection with case FIR No. 546/2019 U/S 8/20NDPS Act registered at Police Station Udhampur.
The accused had jumped parole on 02.02.2023 and was on the run since then. An arrest warrant was issued by the Principal Sessions Judge, Udhampur, in order to bring the absconder to justice.
Acting on the warrant, the police team of PS Udhampur arrested the absconder from Ahmedabad, Gujarat and produced him in the court of law.
Meanwhile, in another case, a police team from PP Roundomail apprehended one person from near Shiv Mandir Darsoo and recovered 2.16 kg poppy straw from his possession. The accused was coming towards Udhampur side and tried to hide himself from the patrolling team which created suspicion.
On frisking, 2.16 kg poppy straw like substance was recovered from possession of the apprehended person, namely Farooq Ahmed, son of Mohd Yousuf of Pinger, Ramnagar.
A case vide FIR No. 505/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered against him in P/S Udhampur.
