JAMMU, Sept 3: A rapist, who was absconding, has landed in the net of Janipur police.
As per police sources, a man identified as Gurpartap Singh, son of Kashmir Singh, a resident of Janipur allegedly raped a 6-year-old girl near his house few days back.
The accused threatened the victim of dire consequences if she revealed the episode to anyone and later escaped from the spot.
After mustering courage, the girl narrated the ordeal to her family members, who lodged a complaint in this regard with police.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 65/17 under Sections 363 and 376 RPC was registered at Janipur police station and hunt was launched to nab the accused.
Based on reliable information, a team from Janipur police station conducted raid and apprehended the accused.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Janipur Inspector Verinder Gupta made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Pranav Mahajan and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
