JAMMU, May 30: An absconding retired Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) has been arrested in a rape case registered around three months back in Gharota police station.
As per police sources, around three months back a woman hailing from Batyada area lodged a complaint with police station Gharota that retd ASI identified as Rashpal Singh, son of Sarban Singh of Patta Barn, Gharota raped her after taking her to an isolated location.
Acting on the complaint, a case under FIR number 22/15 under Section 376 RPC was registered at Gharota police station and after conducting medical examination of the woman, she was handed over to family members.
On specific information, police team led by SHO Ravinder Singh arrested the accused from a hideout.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
