JAMMU, Sept 30: An ABVP delegation, led by Lokinder Singh and Vinkal Sharma called on Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma and submitted him a memorandum alleging delay in admissions under Lateral Entry system for Engineering courses.
Delegation briefed the VC that despite issuance of an order by the Department of Higher Education for implementation of Lateral Entry System, the Nodal Engineering College GCET was not conducting the admissions by claiming that under a Supreme Court order, admissions can not be granted after August 15 of running session.
As the VC endorsed the GCET view point, the ABVP produced an admission notice of Kashmir University, dated 10-09-2015 and demanded that JU should make clear what are the guidelines of UGC for both the universities. In addition to this ABVP delegates also submitted a notice of Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan in which they had invited applications for admission under Lateral Entry in Engineering in month of December 2014.
The ABVP also warned to launch a vigorous agitation if the admissions under Lateral Entry System are not made from this session.
The delegation comprised of Rajan Gupta, Vishal Singh, Rahul Koundal, Pankaj Sharma and others.
