JAMMU, Aug 10: ABVP Jammu Kashmir today celebrated `Amrit Mahotsav Samaroh’ (diamond jubilee celebration ) of glorious 75 years of the student organization.
A mega event was held in this connection at the IIIM Jammu with the participation of esteemed dignitaries and academicians who have made significant contributions to education and society.
Chief guest for occasion was renowned scholar, Padmashree Prof Vishamurti Shastri, who shared his wisdom and experiences with the young ABVP activists. Maintaining that Indian civilization is the oldest in the world, he stressed that that it is critical to conserve and uphold our customs and traditions, which ABVP has done effectively. He also praised Vidyarthi Parishad for its services to society and the nation as a whole.
Prof Nagesh Thakur, former national President of ABVP, was the special guest and he threw light on the contribution of ABVP for cause of education and youth empowerment. He stated that the ABVP has been contributing to the national cause for the last 75 years, be it calling for the repeal of Article 370 or by hoisting Tiranga in Kashmir. “It has worked relentlessly for the sake of the students and the nation. It has produced and will continue to produce patriots,” he added.
Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Rector Kathua Campus of Jammu University, highlighted the contribution of ABVP in connecting students with professors and assisting them in engaging with society.
Dr Arvind Parkash, State President ABVP Jammu Kashmir and State Secretary Akshi Billowaria were also present on the occasion.
