JAMMU, Feb 10: ABVP’s Students Experience in Inter State Living (SEIL) was marked with a grand reception for the tour delegates from North-East India and discussion on “Bharat ki Gauravshali Sanskriti” at Jammu University.
As part of this tour, students from Northeast India visit other parts of the nation and vice versa every year in a fruitful exchange of diverse cultures, traditions and heritage, thus promoting unity.
Padma Shri Mohan Singh Salathia was chief guest on the occasion while guest of honour was Ex-MLC Ramesh Arora. North Zone Organising Secretary Vijay Pratap Singh, Program President Dean Academic Affairs Prof Naresh Padha was also on the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohan Singh Salathia highlighted the Dogra culture, calling it rich in all forms, as well as the North Eastern heritage. He described SEIL as more than just a physical tour, encouraging a lively spirit of brotherhood among the youth and enabling them to understand and become familiar with distinct culture, art and literature.
Ramesh Arora described India’s cultural diversity as intellectual while discussing it. He said that it was initiatives like this that have kept India as a whole united.
Vijay Pratap Singh described SEIL as a special experiment that has been diligently working since 1966 with the goal of fostering national integrity and unity. He commended the work of ABVP member and SEIL delegation which was part of the tour.
The program president Dr Naresh Padha on behalf of the University of Jammu extended his warm regards to the SEIL delegation as well the members of ABVP and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to organise such a joyous occasion.
Aleo Steward from Manipur and Dakahi Rabon from Meghalaya, two of the tour’s participants, then discussed their individual experiences after Dipankar Das, the SEIL co-coordinator, gave an overview of the SEIL tour.
In Cultural program SEIL delegates presented their North eastern cultural dance and student of Central University of Jammu presented a Dogri cultural dance.
The occasion concluded with the felicitation ceremony during which the Vice-Chancellor of University of Jammu Prof Umesh Rai as well as Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu Prof Bechan Lal were also present. The SEIL delegates as well as the host families, who had accommodated the delegates at their places were felicitated.
Purshottam Dadichi (State President, Sanatan Dharm Sabha), Ashok Koul (State General Secretary Organisation, BJP Jammu Kashmir), Prof J P Sharma (Ex Vice-Chancellor, Agricultural University Jammu), Dr Neelam Sareen (Member Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board) and many other prominent persons were present on this occasion.
