JAMMU, Apr 9: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Central University Jammu unit today paid floral tribute to martyr Chanderkant Sharma on the occasion of his Balidan Diwas (martyrdom day).
Chandrakant Sharma was among the founding members of ABVP in district Kishtwar when terrorism was at its peak during the 90s period. He had a special contribution in increasing the work of ABVP and play great role to awaken nationalism among the youth. Chandrakant later became the Prant Seh-Seva Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He attained martyrdom in a targeted terrorist attack on him in the premises of District Hospital Kishtwar.
On the martyrdom day occasion, Kuljeet Shan threw light on biography of Chanderkant and his unforgettable role in maintaining the morale of the society during the terrorism. In the 90s, when Hindus were migrating from Kishtwar due to terrorism, Chanderkant played an important role in stopping the migration as well as in keeping the society together and maintaining their morale, he said.
Shan said that we all should take inspiration from the martyr and always work keeping the nation first. Even today the patriotic society of Kishtwar is united against terrorism and will never let the plans of anti-nationals be fulfilled, he added.
On this occasion, all the workers of the unit including the unit president, unit secretary, other students and research scholars were present.
