JAMMU, Feb 23: Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu and Kashmir today staged a protest against the non-functionality of the JK Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and negligence of the LG administration for the same.
The protestors raised the issue of the vacant position/s of the Chairman and members within JKPSC. The ABVP highlighted the concerns and the impact of the non availability of Chairman and the members on the efficiency and functionality of the premium recruiting institution in UT.
It is pertinent to mention here that the tenure of the Chairman and the members of the Commission has expired months ago, which has left the Commission non-functional, thereof causing serious inconvenience to the aspirants. The delay in fulfilling the vacancy/s of Chairman and members has led to delay in the recruitment processes, causing frustration among job aspirants thereof.

During the protest, the ABVP emphasized the importance of promptly filling up these vacancies with qualified and competent individuals who can lead the Commission effectively. Furthermore, the ABVP advocated for a fair and merit-based recruitment system that upholds the principles of equal opportunity and impartiality.
The issue of vacant positions within the JKPSC is not an isolated concern but reflects broader systemic challenges within the administrative framework, said the ABVP leaders and called upon the authorities to prioritize and expedite the appointment of suitable candidates to these key positions and ensure the smooth functioning of the institution of JKPSC.
ABVP JK State Secretary Akshi Billowria proposed measures for instituting transparent selection criteria, implementing regular monitoring mechanisms, and fostering increased stakeholder engagement to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of these organization. She urged the Government to take prompt action to address the grievances raised by the ABVP and other stakeholders. “If this major issue is not addressed soon by the administration, ABVP will protest throughout the UT,” she warned.
