JAMMU, Oct 25: In protest against alleged disrespect to the Indian National Flag during a cricket match at Tamil Nadu, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) took out a Tiranga March here today.
The march was taken out from the Press Club Jammu to Jammu University Campus. A number of students, besides ABVP activists took part in the march to register their strong protest against the alleged dishonorable treatment meted out to the National Flag at Chepauk Cricket Stadium during security checking for Pakistan versus Afghanistan match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
ABVP alleged that the incident had exposed the disturbing agenda of the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu against the unity of Bharat. “ABVP stands firm in its condemnation of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association’s (TNCA) irrational decision to prohibit the display of the National Flag of Bharat that led to the outrageous seizure of our National Flags, which was then disgracefully discarded in a dustbin by Tamil Nadu Police,” said ABVP State Secretary Akshi Billowria, who was leading the march.
She stressed that the National Flag of Bharat is not just a piece of cloth but an emotion, a symbol of our unity, integrity and the sacrifices made by countless patriots. Any act of disrespect or disregard for this sacred emblem is a direct insult to the spirit of our nation. ABVP firmly believes that such acts should never go unanswered, she added.
Akshi Billowria said that the Tiranga March was not just a symbolic gesture but a resounding message to those who seek to undermine the unity & integrity of Bharat. She called upon the authorities to investigate this incident thoroughly and take necessary actions to ensure that such dishonorable acts are not repeated.
Jammu Mahanagar Mantri, Arman Khajuria, State Joint Secretary Chahat Anand, Vibhag Convenor Akarshit Sharma, Grameen District Convenor Vikrant, Mahanagar Joint Secretary Harish, Piyush and Fasil also addressed the march.
