JAMMU, May 8:  Notwithstanding the constitution of a committee by the Vice-Chancellor to look into the demand for roll back in hostel fee hike, the fast unto death by Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists at Jammu University entered into second consecutive day.
Three ABVP activists, namely Ashwani Sharma, Sandeep Sharma and Gagan Khajuria are sitting on fast unto death since yesterday. They are demanding immediate roll back in the hostel fee hike and a number of other student organizations are also supporting the demand.
The protesting students termed the constitution of a committee for recommendations on hostel fee hike as an eye wash. The JU authorities are misleading the students as well as the media and general public by giving false information on status of hostel fee, the ABVP leaders said while addressing a gathering at the fast dharna venue.
A similar committee was constituted earlier for the recommendations, which were never implemented and we will continue our fast unto death till the University authorities roll back the hike in fee, they added.
