JAMMU, Jan 22: 19th meeting of Academic Council of SKUAST-Jammu was convened here today under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Pradeep Kumar Sharma.
The agendas of the meeting included adoption of regulation for minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph D degree on the pattern of University Grant Commission, inclusion of Research Methodology as compulsory course in Ph D level, institution of Ph D in microbiology on self finance basis, revision in remuneration of contractual faculty, prevention of plagiarism in higher studies, inclusion of anti-plagiarism certificate as part of thesis and modification in regulations for oral comprehensive examination.
In his address, the VC emphasized that teaching is the primary objective of the University for developing the human resource for the State as well as at national level. He stated that such types of meetings are helpful to frame rules for modification of existing rules for improving quality of education.
Agenda of the meeting was presented by Rajesh Talwar, Registrar and Member Secretary of the Academic Council.
Dr M Y Zargar, Director Research SKUAST-K was the expert member. Dr T A S Ganai, Director Education; Dr J P Sharma, Director Research; Dr Deepak Kher, Director Planning & Monitoring; Dr K S Risam, Director Extension; Dr M M S Zama, Dean, F V Sc & A H; Dr S E H Rizvi, Dean, F B Sc; Dr R K Arora, Associate Director Extension, all the Heads of the Divisions of Faculties of Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences and Basic Science also attended the meeting.
