Academy releases Sehbai’s ‘Jawaz’

JAMMU, April 25: Arsh Sehbai’s latest poetry collection ‘Jawaz’ was released today by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, at an impressive function held at KL Saigal Hall, here.
The function was presided over by Prof Qudoos Javaid. Besides many other dignitaries including Prof Assadullah Wani, Dr Premi Romani, Khurshid Kazmi, Rahat Hussain Rahat and Amin Banihali also attended the function.
Earlier welcoming the guests, Academy’s additional secretary, Shamima Akther said that Sehbai’s writings were impressive and needed to be read and appreciated.
Academy’s assistant editor, Gojri, Dr Shahnawaz Khatana read a paper on the life and works of Sehbai.
In his presidential address, chief guest, Prof Qudoos Javaid, congratulated Sehbai on having come out with yet another poetry collection.
Complementing the Academy for holding the release function, Prof Javaid said that it was because of the efforts of institutions like Academy that writers of the State were seeing their work being published.
In the concluding remarks, academy’s additional secretary, Savita Bakshi praised Sehbai for contributing significantly to the field of Urdu literature.
A gahzal treat was also organised on the margins of the release function, in which singer Dharmesh Nargotra sang selected ghazals of Sehbai much to the delight of an appreciative audience.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by Salim Salik.
