Academy rolls out important cultural, literary activities

Srinagar, Sept 11: J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages is organizing series of important cultural and literary programmes including a major heritage exhibition and Pahari, Urdu, Hindi and Ladakhi language conferences in the coming weeks.
Giving details, Secretary Academy, Khalid Bashir Ahmad, said a calendar of important activities has been drawn for the next 3 months. He said a 2-day Kashmir Heritage exhibition will be held on September 18-19, 2013 to showcase rich legacy of Kashmir through art, craft, musical instruments, archaeology, costume, manuscripts, images. He said the exhibition will be held in Srinagar in association with the departments of archives, archaeology & museums, handicrafts and some Non-Governmental Organi-zations. Chief Minister, who is also the President of the Academy, will inaugurate the exhibition, he said, adding that the focus of the exhibition will be on the heritage lost to the modern age.
Khalid said that on September 12-13, 2-day Cultural Festival will be held at Kargil featuring All India Paniting Camp, seminar on local languages, all State Urdu Mushaira and cultural evening. He said as part of the series of language conferences started by the Academy last year, Pahari Conference will be held at Rajouri on September 22-23, followed by conferences in Gojri, Urdu, Hindi and Ladakhi languages. Pertinently, conferences in Kashmiri, Dogri and Punjabi have already been held earlier.
The Academy is also holding cultural programmes at district level in the State.
