JAMMU, Apr 26: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today booked an officer of Additional Secretary rank for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known source of income and also conducted searches in his residential houses at Jammu and Reasi.
Official sources told Excelsior that a case FIR under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Babu Ram, presently posted as Additional Secretary in the Labour and Employment Department, who is accused of accumulating moveable as well as immovable properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Soon after registration of the FIR, ACB approached Anti-Corruption Court late this morning and secured a search warrant following which intensive searches were conducted at both the residences of Babu Ram.
During the searches, which were simultaneously conducted at Babu Ram’s residences in Shastri Nagar Jammu and Ward number 6 in Reasi town, ACB teams are learnt to have seized a number of incriminating documents.
Presently posted in the Labour and Employment Department, Babu Ram has earlier worked on various important positions, including Assistant Commissioner, Jammu Development Authority (JDA), ADC Reasi, Labour Commissioner Kathua, etc. He is purportedly attaining the age of superannuation next month.
