ACB nabs AO taking graft

Srinagar, Feb 15: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested Accounts Officer of Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), Nazir Ahmad for demanding bribe for releasing long pending bills regarding repairs of official vehicles belonging to the GDA.

The ACB today trapped Nazir Ahmad for demanding bribe for releasing long pending bills regarding repairs of official vehicles belonging to GDA.
The ACB received a written complaint from General Manager, M/s Choudhary Motors alleging that the official was demanding bribe for release of long pending bills regarding repairs of official vehicles belonging to the GDA.
The complainant alleged that M/s Choudhary Motors approached GDA for clearing bills of repair of the official vehicles. “The bills were accordingly submitted for release of payments by Chowdhary Motors. The accused Accounts Officer was not releasing the payments on one pretext or the other despite repeated requests from the complainant”, the complaint said.
It was also alleged that the accused was demanding the bribe for settlement of the bills.
The ACB has registered a case (FIR No. 01/2020) in Police Station Anti Corruption Bureau , Baramulla under Section 7(a) P.C Act 1988 against the accused.
The ACB trap team was constituted and it laid trap at office of Gulmarg Development Authority located at Tangmarg in Baramulla district. The Accounts Officer was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5000. He was arrested and taken into custody.
The ACB is conducting further investigations into the case.
