Sir,
This has reference to the proactive measures taken by the Government to expedite developmental works in Jammu and Kashmir, as reported in the Daily Excelsior on September 19, 2023.
The recent directive from the Government to the Planning, Development, and Monitoring Department to ensure the swift completion of physical verification for over 16,000 works and projects is a testament to their commitment to transparency and efficiency. It is heartening to see the government’s dedication to bridging the infrastructure deficit in the region, especially at a time when development is crucial.
Furthermore, the emphasis on creating a comprehensive database to prevent work repetition and the timely accord of administrative approval, tendering, and allotment of works is a remarkable step towards streamlining processes and ensuring that developmental works progress smoothly. This approach, coupled with the awareness of the forthcoming elections and the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct, exhibits prudent governance.
The Finance Secretary’s directive to maximize funding from Centrally Sponsored Schemes and PMDP, expedite NABARD loan projects, and utilize unspent funds is commendable. It not only ensures that projects are completed on time but also reduces the burden on Union Territory resources.
These initiatives reflect the Government’s dedication to fostering growth and development in Jammu and Kashmir. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact of these efforts on the region’s prosperity.
