JAMMU, Oct 26: Jammu Kashmir Accession Day was observed today amid paying tribute to the martyrs and remembering sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for making Jammu and Kashmir part of India.
On the occasion, a number of events were held by various political and social organizations. Major event in this regard was held at Brig Rajinder Singh Chowk wherein Army veterans, serving officers of Rising Star Corps and prominent persons paid rich tribute to Brig Rajinder Singh Jamwal, who is remembered as the ‘Saviour of Kashmir’. Speakers on the occasion threw light on supreme sacrifice by Brig Rajinder Singh Jamwal who repelled waves of enemy attack and stood until the last bullet for saving J&K. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kashmir unit commemorated Accession Day with a ceremony at the Party Headquarters at Jawahar Nagar Srinagar. The event brought together party workers, senior leaders, and citizens to honor this significant day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. BJP general secretary (organization) J&K, Ashok Koul, graced the occasion, emphasizing the importance of Accession Day as a reminder of the Union Territory’s commitment to unity and integrity within India. Koul highlighted the significance of Maharaja Hari Singh’s decision to accede to India in 1947. He said the next step of the Modi-led Government in Centre is to integrate PoJK with J&K. The ceremony included patriotic addresses and reflections on the role of the people of J&K in strengthening India’s democratic fabric.
To mark the occasion, Shiv Sena (UBT) vowed to protect the identity of J&K. Addressing media persons on the occasion, Shiv Sena J&K chief Manish Sahni said that the history of 77 years of merger has been full of disappointments. J&K has been exploited fiercely by the rulers. For the last three and a half decades, the people of the State have been facing the brunt of terrorism. For almost the same number of years, Kashmiri migrants have been living the life of refugees in their own country and State. On the other hand, in August 2019, this crown of the country was split into two parts and its state status was taken away. Sahni appealed people to wake up to save the identity of J&K along with its culture.
The day was celebrated by members of Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) under the supervision of YRS Chairman Raghuvir Singh near Maharaja Hari Singh’s statue located at Bikram Chowk, Jammu. All the members paid rich tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh. While addressing the media, Vikram said that it is due to Maharaja Hari Singh we proudly said that “We are citizens of India, citizens of J&K and proud to be Dogra”. Vikram also demands Statehood status for J&K. Raghuvir also expressed their views regarding the present scenario of J&K and demands the rights of people of J&K as per Constitution of India.
Maharaja Gulab Singh Brigade (MGSB) celebrated ‘Vilay Diwas’ at Maharaja Hari Singh Park today, commemorating the historic accession of J&K to India. The event was held under the guidance of Shivang Satya Gupta (MGSB Chairman). Anil Singh Rakwal (working president of MGSB) along with other office bearers including Rajay Jamwal (president), Ranjit Singh, Tarsem Singh and Atul Sharma (vice-presidents), Neeraj Dewan and RK Gupta (secretaries) paid tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh.
Paying tribute to the Dogra king Maharaja Hari Singh on Accession Day function organized by the Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) here, Sabha president Ved Parkash Sharma, Chairman Advocate PC Sharma and others said they are grateful to Maharaja Hari Singh who made them proud citizens of India. They said Maharaja Hari Singh is accused by some uninformed and ignorant people of delaying the signing of the accession document, which is completely false.
Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra celebrated Accession Day in the premises of the Kendra. On the occasion, participants spoke widely on the dare-devils who fought the Pakistani Army and raiders on the entire front of J&K particularly the districts of Baramulla in Kashsmir and Mirpur in Jammu region. Speakers paid rich tribute to Brig Rajinder Singh, Capt Som Nath and other Indian soldiers who laid their lives to protect the Indian territory and the people from the barbaric mass killing of innocent people of the state. Two minutes silence was observed on the occasion to pay homage to the martyrs of 1947-48.
To celebrate the Day, SAMADHAAN Foundation, a cultural, charitable, and educational organization, hosted ‘Adhimilanotsav’ under the theme ‘Duggar Swaraj’ at Mata Bala Sundri Temple, Nagri (Kathua). The event was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner Surinder Mohan Sharma as chief guest, who pledged support for the Organization’s demands aimed at preserving Dogra heritage. Prominent social figure Baldev Singh attended the event as a special guest. Pawan Sharma, patron-in-chief and founder of SAMADHAAN Foundation, delivered a keynote address shedding light on “Duggar Swaraj”.
On Accession Day, Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir (MSJK) registered a strong protest at Hari Singh Park along with the hundreds of people. After paying floral tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh, MSJK president Sunil Dimple accused the BJP for dismantling the Maharaja Hari Singh’s Dogra state, on 5 August 2019. He demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for restoration of Statehood to J&K in its original form as per the directives of the Supreme Court.
