RAMBAN, Jan 8: A man was killed in a road accident here after a car and an oil tanker had head-on collision inside Peerah-Kunfer Chanderkote tunnel on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway this evening.
Police sources informed that the oil tanker bearing registration number JK02CQ-9051 hit a car bearing registration number DL10CF-5692 coming from opposite direction leaving driver of the car grievously injured.
The injured car driver was immediately rushed to District Hospital Ramban where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police identified the deceased as Javeed Ahmed Khan, 56, son of Gulam Nabi Khan, resident of Sazgaripora, Hawal in Srinagar.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban, Mohita Sharma said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chanderkote for further investigations.
It is pertinent to mention here that four accidents-all head-on collisions, have taken place inside the Peerah-Kunfer tunnel during the last one week.
