JAMMU, Oct 3: An accidental fire from a police Inspector triggered panic outside the District Jail Ambphalla here this morning but no one was injured.
Police said a police party from District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu had gone to take under trials from Ambphalla jail to the court.
When Inspector Arjun Singh Chib took his weapon back from the constable after signing documents and was counting bullets, one of the bullets went off accidentally outside the gate of the jail. However, it didn’t hit anyone.
Police parties from Pacca Danga police station reached the spot and started investigations.
An inquiry has been ordered into the incident, police said.
