JAMMU, Sept 16: Pacca Danga police today arrested a chain snatcher red handed from Naraniyan Mohalla as soon as he snatched 10 grams gold chain from a woman Rita Bakshi and tried to escape.
Police said on getting tip off, alert police personnel of Pacca Danga police station came into action and chased the chain snatched and apprehended him red handed with the snatched chain of Ms Bakshi.
The chain snatcher has been identified as Rajesh Kumar son of Romesh Kumar, a resident of Sector 14, Nanak Nagar.
Police said Kumar snatched gold chain, weighing 10 grams, from Rita Bakshi at an isolated lane at Naraniyan Mohalla and tried to escape.
However, police nabbed the chain snatcher and recovered the chain from his possession.
The chain will be restored to the woman after completion of legal formalities.
Police parties headed by SHO Pacca Danga Inspector Mahesh Sharma made the arrest of chain snatcher under the supervision of SDPO City Kulbir Handa.
