Accused remanded to judicial custody in NDPSA case

JAMMU, Apr 9: Special Judge NDPS Cases Jammu Y P Sharma today rejected the bail application of two accused and remanded them to further judicial custody of 15 days.
The accused persons Saqib Zaffar, son of Zafarullah Khan of Bathindi, Jammu and Afraz Mehboob Tak, son of Mehboob Ahmed of Doda were arrested with commercial quantity of drugs and accordingly case under NDPS Act was registered against them by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Jammu.
After hearing counsels for the accused persons and NCB, the court observed, “since the accused persons are alleged to be involved in the commission of offences under various sections of NDPS Act, which are not only non-bailable but are also heinous in nature and investigation of the case is not complete, the grounds urged in the application for remand appear to be genuine and well founded”.
Accordingly, court allowed the remand application and rejected the bail application. “The accused persons, who are presently lodged in judicial custody are further remanded to judicial custody for a period of 15 days from April 9 to April 23”, the court ordered.
