JAMMU, May 11: Taking cognizance of a purported incident, the management of Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School Jammu has suspended the school teacher who was allegedly involved in attempt to molest a girl student at a private tutorial.
Decision in this regard was taken during a hurriedly called meeting of the school management and Child Rights Cell of the Presentation Convent. Following his suspension, the accused teacher, identified as Rakesh Verma, is also learnt to have submitted his resignation to the school authorities.
When contacted, Sister Rosamma, Principal of the Presentation Convent, confirmed that Rakesh Verma had submitted his resignation after the school management suspended him with immediate effect.
“Honour of the girl students is our topmost priority and any staff members allegedly engaged in such heinous act even outside the school premises, is ought to be punished,” she said adding that the accused teacher would have been terminated if he had not resigned.
