JAMMU, July 12 : Asst Commissioner (Revenue) Jammu S. Gurvinderjit Singh made his maiden Visit to Kargil Vihar Colony being established by the Welfare Housing Organisation (WHO) of the Jammu and Kashmir Ex Services League(JKESL) near Village Baran of Distt Jammu.
The ACR was accompanied by his staff and ascertained the details of the land under acquisition by the govt for establishment of the colony. Some villagers of the local areas who had assembled there expressed their difficulties about the land being acquired. However, they were explained that the process of land acquisition order was set rolling over a decade back. The requisite notices under law were issued by the govt in 2003 onwards and no objections were received by the Revenue Department. Now theGovernment approval has been granted for issue of land award order.
The Jt Chairman of the WHO, Col (Retd Dr Virendra K Sahi, gave the background of the colony being established for the war widows, widows old retired ex-servicemen and some serving soldiers-all hailing from within the J and K State. He gave details of the considerations already extended to the locals and the way the proposed colony will boost development of the area, benefitting local populace. He sought cooperation from the locals. Col Sahi was accompanied by the Chief Engineer Col Gopal Singh, General Secretary Col Bipan Katal, Retd Asst Commissioner (R) F.R Javed, Retd Tehsildar R.S Manhas, Officer incharge Kargil Vihar Lt Col (Retd) M.L Raina, Capt Tara Singh and other main functionaries of the JKESL.
