Act strictly against violators: IGP Traffic to officers

JAMMU, Nov 21: IGP Traffic, Alok Kumar accompanied by SSP Traffic, Shakti Pathak here today visited vulnerable points on the National Highway-44 from Jawahar Tunnel to Jakheni, Udhampur and took stock of the situation over there.
Later, a meeting was convened at Ramban which was attended by all Dy SsP, DTIs and SOs of NHW Traffic. The IGP directed the officers to make maximum use of technology and take strict action against traffic violators committing offences like overloading, over speeding, drunken driving, driving without seat belts and lodge FIRs against grave traffic violators.
The officials were further directed to use florescent jackets after sunset to improve visibility and to avoid mishaps.
The officers were directed to prepare a database of local vehicle mechanics along with their phone numbers and get these displayed at those points on the NHW where frequent breakdown of vehicles take place and facilitate the repair of vehicles so that there is quick response in the event of breakdown of vehicles and traffic on the NHW flows freely.
The officers were directed to organise traffic rules awareness programmes in schools and colleges.
The IGP also listened grievances of traffic officials and assured them for early redressal.
