JAMMU, Aug 16: A delegation of Associated Chamber of Traders Federation (ACTF) led by its president, Yash Paul Gupta, called upon Union Home Secretary, Anil Goswami and apprised him about the negligence of the authorities which resulted in the tragedy of Kishtwar.
The delegation told the Union Home Secretary the whole incident was result of inordinate delay in providing security to the people whose shops/houses/establishments were looted and gutted. “Consequently there is an atmosphere of panic and fear among both the communities at Kishtwar. The people of the whole region were so disturbed that the authorities had to resort to the clamping of the curfew resulting in great difficulties to the people throughout the Jammu province”, it said.
The delegation requested the Home Secretary to put in place a system which totally negates such happenings and also demanded that the sufficient security be provided to the people.
Neeraj Anand, secretary general, ACTF, pleaded that speedy and sufficient steps should be taken to rehabilitate the people who suffered in riots.
The Union Home Secretary listened to the demands of the delegation and assured them that everything possible would be done according to law.
