Acting workshop ‘Understanding the Self’ starts at Natrang

JAMMU, Dec 9: Understa-nding the ‘Self’-an extensive theatre workshop focusing psycho-physical acting inaugurated here today at Natrang Studio Theatre.
Senior Natrang functionaries-Padmashri Balwant Thakur, Suresh Kumar, Dr. Karan Rana and Aarushi Thakur Rana were present at the occasion.
Organized for the benefit of theatre enthusiasts of Jammu, the workshop is being conducted by Baljeet Singh, alumni of National School of Drama, New Delhi.
Speaking at the occasion, Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur informed that Natrang has chalked-out a series of training programmes for the youth and children to provide them a platform to explore and express their creativity.
“This endeavour of Natrang also aims at filling the gap of the hindered training and practice opportunities because of Corona crisis,” he maintained complementing the expert directors/ trainers who have come forward to enlighten the theatre aspirants with their vast experience.
Workshop Director, Baljeet Singh is an actor, director and acting trainer from Sirla-Bhaga, Reasi, J&K who has participated in theatre activities and worked with several Delhi & Jammu based theatre groups.
The workshop contains the elements of Alexander Technique to improve the quality of singing, playing, acting or dancing of actors and also the methods of Michael Chekhov which considers the actor a free creative artist involving imagination and psycho- physical techniques.
Participants in this workshop will explore this technique during the fulltime comprehensive creative and technical training.
Those who are attending the workshop include Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Meenakshi Bhagat, Palshin Dutta, Diksha Pandita, Sushant Singh Charak, Kushal Bhat, Gautam Sharma, Prohitdeep Singh and Bhawani Singh Bali.
The workshop is being coordinated by Neeraj Kant and Mohd. Yaseen.
