Devgn, Shroff shoot at Lal Chowk

SRINAGAR, May 21: The heart of Srinagar is buzzing with excitement as the crew of the much-anticipated movie “Singham Again” is shooting a scene at the iconic Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk. This marks a significant moment as it is the first major film shoot in the Valley since the abrogation of Article 370 four years ago. The return of film crews to Jammu and Kashmir highlights the region’s growing stability and its attractiveness as a shooting location.
In the past four years, Jammu and Kashmir has seen more than 300 films being shot, underscoring a renaissance of the local film industry. This resurgence is supported by the recently launched Film Policy 2024, which builds on the JK Film Policy 2021. The new policy simplifies the shooting process, providing filmmakers with more incentives and streamlined procedures.

The local Government’s initiatives have not only revitalized the film industry but have also played a crucial role in restoring peace to the Valley. The opening of cinema halls after a long hiatus further signifies this positive change. As Bollywood returns to Jammu and Kashmir, the region is poised to become a premier destination for filmmakers from around the world.
The ongoing shoot of “Singham Again” at Lal Chowk is not just a cinematic event; it represents a new era of cultural and economic development for Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, a huge crowd gathered near the historic Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk today when Bollywood stars Ajay Devgn and Jackie Shroff were spotted filming a scene for the upcoming movie, ‘Singham Again’.
Directed by Rohit Shetty-known in the industry for stunning action sequences and fast-paced plots-Shetty was also present near the clock tower as the actors remained busy giving their best.
Despite it being the early morning hours, the presence of the Bollywood stars, who were most likely shooting the final scenes of the movie, captured the attention of passersby.
As the actors flew back to Mumbai after wrapping up the shooting, Jackie Shroff, in a recorded message, shared his experience of being in Kashmir.
“The way this place is beautiful, in the same way, the people here are amazing and welcoming. We are going back to Mumbai after shooting, and it was a great experience to be here,” he said.
He noted the support they received during the shooting, stressing the immense hospitality they experienced.
“There has been immense support from the people, police, and Army. At the same time, it was great to see the huge number of tourists. We had a great time being here in Kashmir.”
Earlier, a few days ago, the Bollywood actors along with their crew were also seen filming for the movie in Old City’s Zaina Kadal, attracting people who were in awe as the actors performed in front of the cameras.
The final scenes of the movie are likely to feature various locations in Kashmir, especially the Old City of Srinagar and the clock tower, showcasing Ajay Devgn and Jackie Shroff, followed by cops dressed in black uniforms. Reportedly, some of the scenes have also been shot in Sonamarg.
Interestingly, the pictures and videos that people captured, whether in Zaina Kadal or Lal Chowk, are already being widely shared on social media platforms. People are expressing their excitement about watching the scenes on the big screen.
