This is in response to your editorial ‘Action against Director SKICC’ (DE 22.4.2018). From the year 2013 on-wards Sher e Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) has been marred with corruption and mismanagement. It is a known fact that bookings at SKICC are made for half day programmes but the seminars / workshops or conferences run for the whole day or even for two days. Director SKICC had been taking huge cuts for such events and thus bringing a huge loss to state exchequer. In addition to it Rs 16 crore FDR meant for employees pension was liquidated during last four to five years by the ex Director. The said money as per reports has been used for civil works in the SKICC campus through her favorite contractors. I would congratulate Tourism Minister Tasaduq Mufti for taking stern action against this corrupt officer by removing her from the post and initiating a thorough probe plus 10 years audit. I also congratulate Daily Excelsior for highlighting this news. Hope a continuous followup is done by Excelsior on SKICC scam during the course of investigation and audit.
