JAMMU, Apr 10: District Administration Jammu, in association with the Legal Metrology and Labour Department, today conducted surprise inspection and stopped operations of some prominent establishments selling school uniforms and books in violation of mandatory norms.
Led by Additional DC Jammu Ansuya Jamwal, the inspection team stopped operations of U Mart Uniform Shop at Kachi Chawni, NE Uniforms at Kachi Chawni, Sahitya Sangam at Bahu Plaza and PCM at Kunjwani till rectification.
These establishments were selling school uniforms and books without mandatory declarations as per Legal Metrology Act and were also found guilty of violating Labour Laws.
Besides, `Vidyarthi Uniforms’ near Green Belt Park was booked for violation of Legal Metrology Act and the uniforms were seized by the inspection team.
The inspection team, comprising SDM; Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology Jaideep Singh; Assistant Labour Commissioner Rupali Jasrotia and DPO Trilochan Singh, was constituted to conduct random market checking so as to ensure that there is no overcharging of the rates or any other illegal activity undertaken by the book/uniform selling shopkeepers.
