Action to be taken against 21 employees of JAKFED for embezzlement of Rs 300 cr

SRINAGAR: Action will be taken against 21 employees of Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (JAKFED) for their alleged involvement in embezzling Rs 300 crore.

Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Chering Dorjay in the Legislative Council said embezzlement of Rs 300 crore was detected by the House Committee of the J&K Legislative Council in JAKFED and appropriate action would be initiated against the culprits.

Replying to a question of Surinder Kumar Choudhary, the Minister said 21 employees were allegedly involved in the embezzlement. He said that timely action on the House Committee report has been taken by the department. He said in 2015, Chief Secretary was approached to take further action after observing necessary legal formalities.

The Minister said as per report of GAD, the House Committee report was forwarded to the Vigilance Organization on May 29, 2015 for intimating whether there were any similarities in the findings of the House Committee. (AGENCIES)
