Activists give transparent packaging bags for COVID dead to GMC

JAMMU, Aug 29: Social Activist, S. Balvinder Singh along with civil society members, S. Manjit Singh and S. T.P Singh today handed over 30 transparent plastic bags for packaging dead bodies of Corona deceased persons to the Principal Government Medical College (GMC), N.C Dingra and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Dara Singh.
The bags were provided to the activists by Deadbarm Enterprises Haryana and have some transparent portion to make the face of the deceased visible for identification.
Speaking on the occasion Balvinder Singh said, earlier they have urged upon the UT administration and officers of Health Department to arrange plastic bags having some transparent portion so that the relatives of the dead may see the face of the deceased before last rites.
The activists claimed that Principal GMC and Superintendent have initiated the process for procurement of such bags.
Balvinder hailed Dr Yashpal Sharma, MD J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd for initiating fast track tendering process and finally getting quotations and samples from different suppliers for the plastic bags having some transparent portion.
