JAMMU, Aug 25: Several activities for generating awareness were conducted at Government High School Cherhar on Biodiversity Conservation under NEAC programme of Union Ministry of Environment and Forests.
The School organized painting competition based on the sub theme “Biodiversity Conservation for Food Security” in which 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes were won by Nasir Hussain (8th), Mubashar Ahmed (5th) and Nasreena Kousar (8th) respectively.
The School organized ‘Rally-cum-Nature Camp’ at Kundali Cherhar, which was followed by a symposium on said theme organized in the School premises in which Mohammad Junaid (10th) Monisa (7th) Momin Latief (8th) bagged first three positions, while consolation prizes were distributed among all other participants. Various local seeds were collected by the students and Seed Bank was established in the School. The programme was co-ordinated by Headmaster Gh Mohi-ud-Din Butt, Khalid Hussain Malik, Farooq Ahmed Ganie, Archana Parihar, Phoola Sharma, Swarm Lata, Shabnum Nigar and Indu Bala, under the able guidance of Pardeep Koul, District Coordinator, NEAC, Kishtwar.
