JAMMU, Dec 3: The inhabitants of Patoli Brahmana and Sharda Colony in Raipur Domana area are facing acute scarcity of drinking water for over last one week with Jal Shakti Department taking no effective steps to restore the water supply in the area.
The residents of the area said that for over last one week the water supply has been disrupted in the area after the machinery developed a snag and since then the department concerned failed to take effective steps in restoring the water supply despite the repeated pleas by the people.
In an appeal to Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti Jammu the residents have sought his immediate intervention in the matter and demanded that till water supply is restored the portable water supply through tankers be made available in the area as the people are not in a position to purchase water tanker on exorbitant rates.
The residents also expressed concern over failure of the authorities to make the overhead tank in the Patoli area functional which has been constructed over two years back. They said, there was no fun of spending huge amount on construction of the overhead water tank in the area when it has not been made functional for over last two years.
