KATHUA, Dec 22: The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr Bharat Bhushan today asked the cable operators to stop the Analog system and operate the digital cable network as per direction of Government of India Minister of Information and Broadcasting. He was addressing a meeting with cable operator of Kathua district in order to review the switching of existing Cable TV Operator Network (Analog) to the Digital Addressable System (DAS) in district Kathua, Multiple System Operator (MSO), Private Local Cable Operators (LCOs) and District Information Officer Angrej Singh were present in the meeting.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the cable operators to speed up the process of replacement of Analog Cable operation system by Digital Addressable System (DAS) systematically and impressed upon them to ensure switching shall be completed before cutoff date i.e December 31, this year as prescribed by Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
He asked them to ensure hundred percent digitalization of cable networks and installing the set top box to subscriber homes. He said that the last date of digitalization of cable network is ending on December 31 and analog system should be blocked. If any one found violating of Government rule he should be booked under law. He also appealed Cable subscriber to get set top boxes installed for digital quality of picture so that they can watch the channel as per their choice and pay for that channel which they required. He urged the Cable operator to telecast the mandatory channel of Doordarshan.
Earlier Multisystem and local cable operators apprised the ADC about various issues including shortage of set top boxes, responding to which the Deputy Commissioner assured that needful steps shall be taken to resolve the issue.
