ADDCs, SDMs to oversee implementation of PR Act

JAMMU, Jan 9: To oversee the proper implementation of J&K Panchayati Raj Act at field level and to remove impediments in the implementation of schemes and programmes of the Government, J&K Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department has nominated Additional District Development Commissioners (ADDCs) and Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) as Nodal Officers at the District and Sub Divisional levels.
An order issued by the Secretary J&K Government, Sheetal Nanda stated that ADDCs shall conduct monthly review meetings with the Chairpersons of the Block Development Councils (BDCs) and concerned BDOs on the Saturdays of 3rd week of every month or on the previous working day (if the Saturday is a holiday).
The order also stated that the SDMs shall hold bi-monthly review meetings with Sarpanches along with the Panchayat Secretaries of the Panchayats falling within their jurisdiction to review the progress of implementation of schemes.
“A separate record of the deliberations of the meetings taken by the ADDCs and SDMs shall be maintained along with a register of demands/issues/ complaints clearly indicating the action taken and the disposal thereof,” the order maintained.
It further said that a copy of the record of the meetings shall be submitted by the District Panchayat Officers (DPO) to the Directors Rural Development Jammu/Kashmir and the Administrative Department.
“The Nodal Officers shall work under the overall control and supervision of the District Development Commissioners,” the order said.
