SRINAGAR, Oct 16: The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) headed by Chief Secretary, B V R Subrahmanyam approved release of additional Rs 2 crore each to be kept at the disposal of Deputy Commissioners for meeting out various disasters related expenses as per SDRF norms.
Financial Commissioner, Finance, Principal Secretary, Home, Financial Commissioner, Revenue, J&K and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
To further strengthen the district administrations response mechanism to winter vagaries including snowfall and inclement weather, the SEC approved procurement of 13 more Snow Plough Machines for distribution to 10 snowfall prone districts of Kashmir division and Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts in Jammu division.
Pertinent to mention here is that the SEC in November, 2018 had approved allocation of Rs 28 crore for procurement of various machines by the PW(R&B) Department including three sophisticated Snow Cutter Machines, 15 Snow Plough Machines and 22 Bulldozers. The SEC approved procurement of 13 more Snow Plough Machines in the meeting today.
Chief Secretary further directed that any savings on account of procurement of machines/equipment under SDRF should be utilized to procure equipment only so as to bolster disaster preparedness and response of the district administration.
