JAMMU, Jan 6: Demanding parity with employees of other civil departments who have been given one month additional salary in lieu of their election duty during Panchayat and Municipal polls in the State, elected representatives and political activists today urged the State Government to release one month additional salary for the employees of Rural Development Department (RDD) who performed election duties.
Questioning logic and rationale for excluding Rural Development Department employees from such additional salary, Sat Pal, a Panch said, it is painful that these dedicated employees are deprived of their right despite playing a vital role in smooth conduct of Panchayat polls for strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions in the State.
Kuldeep Raj, another Panch said the RDD employees have even being appreciated by the Governor’s Administration for the successful conduct of Panchayat elections but how the Government can ignore the department which made all arrangements and left no stone unturned for successful conduct of such elections after 7 years. Vijay Kumar, political activist requested Governor Satya Pal Malik and his Advisor to issue an order in this regard.
